Small Fry Soccer

At the YMCA by our house they offer a Saturday morning Small Fry Sports Camp for 3-4 year olds. Since Landon's My Gym class stopped offering his age group on Saturday mornings we've been looking for something for Landon and Shannon to participate in. Plano offers team soccer for 3 year olds, but we weren't sure we were ready for all that. Frisco doesn't start them on soccer until they are 4. We really were just looking for something that would help build Landon's confidence and something that he and Daddy could do together. They both look forward to that time together on Saturday mornings. (Mom does too!) The way Small Fry Sports works is that each month they focus on a different sport. This month it was soccer, next month is Flag Football and November is Basketball. We will see how he does for the rest of this year and see if he wants to continue in January. The other months include sports like T-Ball and Indoor Soccer. I think this is a great way to see what Landon likes without having to join all these sports teams and its WAY cheaper - especially if your family is a member at the Y. Here are a few shots I took when I stopped by to see the guys on my way to the store.

First they warm up:
Then they work on drills:

Sometimes needing a little bit of encouragement to continue.
At the end they play a little "scrimmage" - except everyone is on the same team!!

He had a good time and is looking forward to going back today for a make-up class from two weeks ago when they got rained out. Next week they start Flag Football.
