Poor Little Man

Little Man is sick. We spent the entire day in bed. Yes, WE!! We only got up to go potty, and eat dinner.

Yesterday Little Man was running a low fever; hovering around 99-100. At about 3:00 his temperature jumped up. In a mater of 30 minutes it was up to 102.7 so we headed home, climbed in bed and snuggled. By 4:00 he was on fire and his temperature was 104.6. I called the nurse and she told us to come in and see the doctor. From the time I made an appointment with the doctor until we actually saw the doctor, about an hour and a half (they had an emergency in the doctor's office - quite scary for one family) his temperature had dropped back down to about 101. I know the doctor thought I was over exaggerating his temperature. Well he got to see it first hand. In a matter of 30 minutes in the doctor's office waiting for the lab tests to come back his fever shot up to 103.9 and back down again. (He tested him for strep and the flu and he came back negative for both.) The doctor said he didn't like that his temperature was going up and down so quickly. He told me that if he kept this pattern up for a day or two more to bring him back in on Saturday for some blood work. I didn't like the sound of that but will just have to wait and see.
On the way home I had to stop by Target and get some essentials (Milk, juice, and Pull-Ups) and while we were there Landon turned white as a sheet and was shivering. He was ice cold to the touch and said he was cold. By the time I got him home (about 15 minutes later) he was in the bed under the covers cold as ice with a fever of 103 again. In another 30 minutes he was hot as fire and over 104 again. Last night in the middle of the night at some point his fever broke. He woke up wringing wet and cool to the touch. He rolled over and went back to sleep after asking for some water. In no time at all - up came the temperature.
("The Nightstand" - a vigal of meds, remotes, and phones!)

Unfortunately, today has been a bit like the one before. Little Man's temperature has been up all day despite the Tylenol-Motrin regimen we've been on. Usually after about 2 doses of Motrin he's better and the fever is usually gone (or under control). We hung out in the bed all day watching TV, singing songs, chatting, you name it. I checked a few emails for work via my iPhone, but for the most part we just hung out. He had both breakfast and lunch in the bed! During his nap today (which he took in his own bed, so I could get some work done) his fever broke again. Poor thing came into my room with soaking wet hair, climbed into bed with me (yes, I was in the bed - so much for getting work done!) After a few more snuggles, we had some chicken for dinner while he was feeling a bit better. We even got out of bed and ate at the kitchen table! It didn't take long and we were back in the bed. Again, he was freezing cold to the touch, telling me he was cold, and running a fever. In no time at all he was back up to over 103. He's been holding steady at 103+ but sleeping calmly.

I on the other hand am paying to price for snuggling with my son all day, taking a nap in the middle of the afternoon, and just flat out not doing anything active today. It's 1:30 in the morning and I'm seriously contemplating taking a shower (the first one today) when I get done with this post. I'm wide awake! I know I need to go to bed because I'll be up in no time with Little Man. I've got a crazy busy weekend and need to be well rested. I've got two photo shoots Saturday morning followed by a baby shower followed immediately by a wedding to shoot in Rockwall.

But for now, all I want to do is snuggle with Little Man. So, I think I'll do that now.
