Catching Up

Man have I been busy. I'll try my best to catch you up in this post. I can't stay up too late writing, I have an early start to the morning and then a long day ahead of me tomorrow.
Last week I went to San Antonio for NECC, the National Educational Computing Conference, the world's largest educational technology conference for teachers and technology coordinators. We had a good time, and went to several great workshops. Quick story - One morning Deanna and I had wandered looking for a Starbucks. After we got our java, we headed over to the conference center, going a different way than we had the past few mornings. We were talking about the Alamo during our stroll. Discussing how when I was 8, it seemed so big, but when I saw it again as an adult I was a bit underwhelmed at the size. Deanna had never seen the Alamo, so we decided that while we were there we would find out where it was and make sure she got to see it. We were about two blocks from the conference center, right downtown, we rounded the corner and there it was - The Alamo - it was right in front of us - in the middle of down town. I took a picture, I couldn't believe that we were discussing going to see the Alamo, and we stumbled upon it.
While I was gone, Shannon's mom came to town to sit with Landon during the day while Shannon was at work. I came home on Wednesday and then Shannon's dad joined the party on Thursday.

Our neighborhood had a small parade on the 4th. They had a fire truck lead the parade and a police car/truck follow behind. There was a great turn out. We didn't walk, we watched, and cheered them along while holding tightly to the golf club and golf ball - our "new" (newly rejuvenated) favorite toy!

Landon has also discovered the Wii. He has a Diego game that he has played about three times, but on the 4th we were all playing Wii Sports and he wanted to join in the fun. Here he is pitching in baseball.
That evening we all went to another Rough Riders baseball game. This time we took Grandma and Grandpa. The game was really long, so we had to wait a long time to see the fireworks after the game. Landon was a trooper, and managed to stay awake and "uncranky" for the whole evening. (The RR won, 8 to 1!)

Yes, Mom is in the picture - and yes she took it.

On Saturday we went to My Gym. Landon is in a Gymster class there. He goes every Saturday morning (with the option to go 5 other times during the week during the summer). This weekend was his second class. He enjoyed all the activities - and I do have to say, he is quite good. He is a little apprehensive to try some of the activities, but once he does, he enjoys them. These pictures are from both weeks of classes.

I had to include this out of focus picture because I was so proud of Landon for trying this activity. He didn't attempt part two of walking on the bar, but he did the flip! After Gymster Class we went to the lake house to see some of my family for the holiday and give Shannon's parents a chance to see my aunts and uncles. GaGa has a sand scape - I guess that is what you would call it - on the coffee table. It is kind of like a zen sand garden. Landon LOVES it. A few weeks ago while we were at the lake house he played in it for hours. He remembered it, and talked about it on the way there this time. He played in the sand almost the whole time he was there, and awake. He likes to hide the marbles from the Chinese Checkers game in the sand and find them using a spoon. He is pretty good at it, I might say. He gets so excited every time he finds a marble - and there are lots of marbles! Check out these fine motor skills!!

Had to include this picture - notice the U of A Razorback on the TV!!

Yesterday Landon got haircut number 4!

Then today we had a new milestone - the booster seat. It has been getting more and more difficult for Landon to get in/out of his highchair without hitting his knees or getting them stuck. So this morning, when we had a tough time getting his knees unstuck, I decide that I it was time for the booster (it has been time for a long time, but I just haven't gone to get the one I really wanted). So, today I went and bought the Cooshee Seat. A few friends of mine have this booster and love it. Landon picked out a black one?!? so we went with it. He had a dinner in it this afternoon after his nap (3 hour nap!). No comments on the fact that my son had Fruit Loops, a banana and milk for dinner! I was baking dinner when he came into the kitchen and asked if he could please eat Fruit Loops with milk and a banana for dinner. Since he slept through what is usually snack time I went ahead and fed him 30 mintues early. (I ate a few bites of the dinner and put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow.) Check him out in his new seat!

He is singing in this picture.

I also baked an Angel Food Cake today - I'll post about that tomorrow - Let me just say I knew it only had a few ingredients, but I had no idea it was rocket science to make it - Honestly - rocket science.

I love the new background! He is such a cutie. My favorite is the picture of him singing.
