Duke Trail

About 4 days a week I walk the 3 mile loop of the Al Bueher Trail, affectionately known as "The Duke Trail" around here. On Lauri's last loop I brought my point-and-shoot camera out with me and snapped a few pictures as we walked. To keep pace, and to make sure the bus didn't leave without me, I shot as I walked. I didn't stop when I took the pictures! They are a little bit fuzzy. But I wanted you to get an idea of what the trail looks like. I really hope to get my "real" camera out there one day when I have time (and a ride) to take some nice shots, and take my time exploring the trail. It's really not as mundane as these photos make it out to be. It really is a beautiful trail. You also don't get close to realizing how huge some of these hills are.

This is one of the big hills. This morning we were going clockwise around the trail so we went down this one. Notice the pipes on the brick pillars in this picture, and then notice how large they are at the bottom of the hill in the next.

This one shows the sweeping turns and curves of this beautiful trail.

The whole trail surrounds the Washington-Duke Golf Course. You can't see it from most points on the trail, you only get glimpses through the trees. There is this one amazing view after you climb one of the big hills. A great reward after all that hard work.
I want to come back one day and tee off that spot!

I have really enjoyed walking the Duke Trail. I'm going to miss Lauri, my walking partner. She left this morning. I miss her.

What a beautiful trail. It reminds me of the road we walk on in Red River, New Mexico (dirt road, lots of hills; surrounded by beautiful trees and mountains). Enjoy your time on this beautiful trail, and keep up the hard work!

It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with your boys. I'm so glad for you. And I'm extremely proud of your structure at the Deli. The more you do it the easier it will become. Just 2 more weeks and you're home! Miss you, Sister. ;o)
