Happy Mother's Day to ME!!

What a day. :)

I started the day with a little bit extra sleep. Not that everyone didn't. I think we all stayed in bed until about 8:30!! Shannon and Landon made a nice breakfast. We had bacon, eggs, and cinnamon rolls with Orange Juice. Landon helped daddy with the eggs...

After breakfast we all got dressed, took Dad's car to the shop, and then headed to the Dallas Arboretum for a picnic lunch with the Jordan's. It's a tradition. On our way to Dallas we stopped by the camera store to pick up a lens that I had ordered in JANUARY!!! This lens is in such demand that it took 4 months for me to get it. I was excited about getting a chance to use it at the Arboretum.

When we arrived at the Arboretum (with hundreds of other people) we walked around for a little bit and let Landon climb on some of the Story Book Playhouses they have on display. These are really cool. They have taken 14 children's stories and built "structures" to depict each one. They are really neat. The kids can climb on them (most of them - to some extent) and explore all around them. Landon enjoyed himself at a few of these before we had lunch, until some other kids were "making bad choices" (his words!).

"Where will it go?"

When our friends arrived we met up with them and had a wonderful picnic lunch that the guys had prepared for us. The guys did ALL the work and ladies just got to enjoy the meal. We had all kinds of goodies including chicken salad on croissants, home made bread for sandwiches, chips, fresh fruit, and Joe's homemade cheesecake.

Little man tried to sneak in a nap while Dad and Joe took the picnic baskets back to the car.

After a nice lunch on "the hill" accompanied by a small ensemble of musicians playing in the amphitheater we strolled around a few of our favorite gardens. It was much hotter than we expected so we didn't stay a real long time after lunch. Little man was very sleepy so trying to get a family photo was going to be tough. He woke up for a moment so we took the chance to get a photo. Here is the best we got!

These are three really HOT (temperature) and tired folks in this picture! Actually, I think this is the only picture we took that Landon is looking at the camera at all. He really hates having his picture taken; I wonder why?

I have to sneak them in when he's not watching!

On the way home we picked up Shannon's car and came home to rest and cool off. We are going to head out here in a bit and get some ice cream. I need to go wake up Landon before he doesn't want to sleep at all this evening!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of those Moms out there, and to all of those still waiting...hang in there!!
UPDATE: Well, we went into Little Man's bedroom this evening to wake him up to go get ice cream and he was ON FIRE!! We checked his temp. = 101.8 - nice!! So we gave his some Motrin and let him sleep. At about 8:00 he wandered into my bedroom where I was chatting with Shannon as he packed his bags for his trip this week. Landon laid on my bed and watched Shannon pack his bags, and then all of a sudden said, "I'm going to miss you Daddy" as soon as Shannon zipped up the zipper. So, I guess Little Man and I will be home tomorrow. I'm supposed to lead a training after school tomorrow to 26 teachers from across the district - I guess I'm going to have to bail on my girls again!! I owe Buffy and Deanna big time, this will be the second time Landon has been sick for one of these trainings. Sad thing is, I really enjoy leading them and hate to miss. So for my Happy Mother's Day evening I'm snuggling up with Little Man in my bed and looking forward to being kicked in the back about a thousand times while I try to sleep, and loving every moment!
