Here is the latest update on our garden. We ordered some dirt, and got way more than we bargained for. You can read about that on my last post. Well, we managed to fill in the bottom 2/3 of the container with this dirt, which was now mud because of the rain, one wagon full at a time...in the rain.
We had some "help" though! Reagan lasted about 20 minutes and then went back inside to play with her brother!!!
After we filled it with the dirt we topped it off with a more nutrient rich soil that consisted of compost, peat moss, and vermiculite. I made my "grid" and got my "seedlings" in the ground. My lettuce is well beyond a seedling!! I planted three kinds of peppers, cucumbers, two kinds of lettuce, green beans, and planted seeds for carrots, onions, and zucchini. I'm anxious to see how this turns out this year. I'm sure I'll learn A LOT!!!
Of course while we were outside and I had to water my garden, Landon decided that he needed to help keep his sister entertained!! She loved it!!
I love the fact that the kids want to help (a little bit) in the garden. Right now all we do is a tiny bit of watering in the afternoons.
I clipped my first few sprigs of cilantro last night to use with dinner. I swear it made the guacamole and brisket tacos taste better!!
Shannon made the comment, when I brought the cilantro into the house, "I hear a polar icecap refreezing a little bit somewhere in the world."
