5U Angels Baseball - A great beginning

Our first T-Ball season has come to an end. Landon was WAY more into baseball than he ever was into soccer.  I'm glad, except if he plays long term, baseball has incredibly long seasons.  Anyways....  I took some pictures of his last game.

He really does pay attention the whole time.  He's always (95%) in "baseball ready" position watching the batter.

This week they played on the Miricle Field.  It's a big field and they even have an on deck circle.  I thought he looked so "big" yet so small while waiting his turn at bat.

I think he has a pretty natural swing.  With a little instruction, I think he will really be a great hitter.

I'm sure Dad will be mad at me for posting this, but I think it's sweet.  He was upset that he was tagged out at first base.  It was a VERY close call, and dad was covering the base and he called him out.  It was only his second time to be out and he didn't take it very well.  He bounced back a little later!

Dad helping him get things ready to head out to the field.

Here he is hustling back into the dugout after the inning.

Here are some of the other boys waiting to bat.  They remind me of a bunch of bobble heads in those big helmets!

I managed to get the guys to sit down for a moment in the dugout while they waited to bat.  Some of the kiddos can get a little wound up in the dugout!

Another on deck shot.

This was THE swing.  This was the very last at bat for the game and season.  He was the final batter of the inning.  Each boy gets to bat each inning and run to first base.  If he hits it into the outfield, the batter gets to run to second.  They can get tagged out at any time.  This inning Landon was the last batter so he was allowed to try and run all the bases.

A good solid hit right past the 2nd baseman.
He took off running.  I was screaming!!  The ball rolled into the outfield and he was just flying around the bases.

Heading home.  Focus.  Usually by this time the ball has made its way back to the catcher and the catcher stands in front of home plate tagging all the runners as they run home.  Not this time....

HOME RUN!!!

You can tell from this picture, as he crosses home plate, the ball was about 10 feet away.  I was so incredibly proud.  He was so incredibly proud.  The whole team was cheering him on.

A Good Game.

The weekend before, the team held the season party after the game.  Landon had to miss the party because I took him to see STOMP. So, this week after the game Coach G gave him his trophy.  He was the only one to get a trophy that day so he thinks he got it because of his "Awesome Home Run" hit.  Shannon and I haven't told him otherwise!!!

He was VERY excited.

Mom had to take a few shots in the back yard!

This picture makes me think of when people kiss the trophy.  This is how a 5 year-old does it!

Love this kid....

He had a great time this season.  I'm glad he really likes baseball.  He still has A LOT to learn, including the hard facts about getting out, but I think team sports really help build character.
