Snow Day #1

Although I do like an impromptu day at home, when May comes and it's 80 degrees outside and we have to be in school it back fires. But living in North Texas you know it's bound to happen. Landon and I started the day pretty early. FISD didn't call until I was already out of bed and Landon was up for the morning. There is no "going back to bed" for that kid! I tried to snooze while he played on the computer, but I just couldn't stay in bed any longer. We started the morning with a movie while snuggled up on the floor in front of the fire.

I made German Pancakes for breakfast. I love watching these rise in the oven. They fall the moment you take them out, but they are so yummy! They are not that good for you, but they are good to eat!!
After I take it out of the oven, I usually cut it into fourths and sprinkle it with lemon juice and powdered sugar.

After breakfast I made some chili. I failed to go to the store yesterday, or the day before. I usually go on Sunday to get the needed supplies for the week. To say that we are running low on some basics is an understatement. We do however have milk and bread!! We also had 2 pounds of frozen hamburger patties and enough canned beans and tomatoes to make some chili. I'm going to make some cornbread as well....maybe.

The rest of the day was pretty laid back. A lot of tv watching, facebooking, and napping. I did not however get any of the "chores" I had planned on marking of my to do list today (laundry, dishes, cleaning, school work). That's ok, we have to stay home tomorrow as well. I'll just do them then. We will most likely be home on Thursday too so I'll have plenty of time, right?

Well, it's almost dinner time so I'm going to make some cornbread and heat up some of that chili. We will be eating it for many days ahead!! I may even take a shower here in a bit. I really should run....we will see.

Maybe I'll make some hot coco and snuggle with Landon by the fire later tonight....

A little extra thought. A friend of mine posted this picture on facebook today.

This ice is causing havoc on all the visitors in town for the Super Bowl.
