T-Ball in the backyard

I promised Dad I'd take some photos of Landon hitting the ball this afternoon. We bought him a tee and a bat yesterday and I was quite impressed with his hitting. So, we went outside to hit a few this evening. It's hard to do ANYTHING outside between 10:00 and 6:00 - it's just too hot! So we went out after dinner. This was only his third time at bat. He went with Shannon to Small Fry Sports at the YMCA on Saturday. It was his first day of T-Ball. Small Fry is pretty cool. It's a different sport every month (on about a 5 sport rotation) and it's parent & child skills practice. It's not competitive games, just an hour of skill development for 3 and 4 year olds. Shannon and Landon both enjoy the time together. Anyways...After their time together on Saturday, Shannon said that Landon did really well and hit the ball off the tee on his very first try. We decided to get a tee and a bat for the backyard. I managed to get that done yesterday during all our errand running. Landon hit about 20 balls last night and about the same tonight. I promised Dad I'd take some pictures and video for him so he could check it out! Here is a photo and a really short video.

Cracks me up - he knew he needed to lift his leg to get momentum for the swing....wrong leg buddy! We'll work on it.

Oh, and as we were getting ready to go back inside Landon "reminded" me that he locked Lucy inside so that she wouldn't come outside and possibly get hit by a ball. Glad he was thinking of Lucy's best interest, but by locking Lucy inside he locked us OUTSIDE!! And unfortunately the "spare" key wasn't where it was supposed to be...never is really! So we pondered it for a while...Landon got scared because he thought we were going to have to stay outside until Daddy got home. I remembered that a friend "might" have a key. Couldn't remember if she did or not. Thankfully she did. As soon as she could she drove over and brought us her spare key, we unlocked the door, showed off our batting skills and then headed inside.
