Snapshots from the Past

Recently I've been thinking a lot about my Mom and Dad. Some recent events and some reading I've been doing, brought some old memories to the surface.

After putting Landon down to bed the other day, I pulled out a box of old photos. I don't have a lot of things from my Mom's house, mainly some furniture, some old papers, and this box of photos. The box contains photos ranging in time from pictures of my Granny when she was a young girl/teenager to photos of me when I was in High School - about 80 years worth of stuff. Most of the photos are of me, I'll admit it. Most of them range from me as an infant to about 10 years old - hundreds of them. There are some old shots of my parents when they were first married through the time before my father died. They were married 8 years before he passed away. Most of my childhood the only photo I'd ever seen of him was hanging on the wall above the sofa in the living room, with countless other family photos. After discovering an old polorid photo album of my mom's while cleaning out her bedroom closet before we sold the house, I found a bunch of photos of the two of them during those 8 years. Every so often I'll pull out those albums and this old box of photos and look through them. This particular day I was drawn to photos of my mom as little girl (about Landon's age) and the few picutres of my mom and dad together. From what I can tell, Dad was the photographer, becuase my mom is the subject of most of the shots, and he is in VERY few....sounds familiar....huh? I also pulled a few pictures of me when I was around Landon's age as well, just to compare.

Here are two photos of my mom around 4-5 years old.

This is me with my Uncle Woody at my 4th Birthday.
I think I'm about 3 or 4 in this snapshot.
These next shots are of my mom when she was a little bit older. I think she was probably about the same age as me right now - about the time she met and married my father.
Here is the only picture I've ever seen of my Mom and Dad's wedding day.

Then there are just a few photographs of my Dad.

This first one, he's pretty young. I believe this was before he met my mom.

From what I can tell, this was probably taken about the time he and my mom were married, or shortly before. He was about 44 when they got married. This is about the same era of the photo that hung on our wall for all those years. This is the image I think of when I think of what my father looked like. (Personally, I think he looks like Frank Sinatra!)

This is one of the few photos of them together, other than the ones in the polarid album of their boating adventures. This was taken at the Copacabana Lounge in New York. I don't know the date, but it was probably in the early 1970's.

So, that wasn't all that interesting, and not sure if it was really worthy of the blog post that brought me out of blogging hibernation since March! But once I scanned in all these photos the other day so I could have them digitally, I couldn't help but share them.

Oh, and here are a few comparisons:

This is Frank Sinatra (both ends) and my dad (in the center). This is Landon, My mom, and Me all around 4 years old.
