Landon's legs have been through the wringer in the last day. When I picked him up from school I took notice of how dirty his feet/legs were. He so enjoys being outside, he loves to play in the dirt - what boy doesn't LOVE the dirt?!?! We started to head home and I noticed he had a few bug bites on his legs. I wasn't overly concerned, boys get bit by bugs when they play outside.
Further into the evening....
Shannon noticed the bites on Landon's legs, so I took note of them again. They didn't seem to be bothering him, so I they had sort of slipped my mind. When Shannon pointed them out I noticed they were a little bit larger and redder than earlier in the day. Again, not REAL concerned but decided to keep a close eye on them. Last night as I was drawing a bath for Landon I took the chance to snap a few pictures of his incredibly dirty feet. I also took some photos of his bug bites.
This morning when Landon came into our room he said his legs were bothering him. We took a look at his bites and noticed the red circles had become larger, but still didn't look too bad. We continued to get ready, headed to school and on with our day. About 8:30 I got a phone call from Landon's school telling me that the bites seemed to be getting worse. They sent me a picture of his bites and I agreed that they were quite a bit worse. I decided to take him in to see the doctor just to make sure they were not infected. The doctor took a look, and Yes, they were infected. It turns out Landon is allergic to ants! We are not sure that these were fire ants, but I'm pretty sure they were - we ARE in Texas - home of the fire ant.

The doctor also took a look in Landon's ears. Guess what? One of his ear tubes fell out. They are supposed to fall out after a while, but I think it was a bit early. It has been 16 months since his ear surgery. The doctor also said that he did have fluid behind his ear drum, it was clear, but it was there. I fear that we will start the vicious cycle of ear infections again. His allergies are SOOOO bad that I know we will have inner ear fluid, and where there is fluid for any period of time, there is infection. Here we go again....
I of course asked the doctor if I could keep his tube. I wanted to see it. I had been told they were really small. They would have to be to fit in the ears of a 18 month old. I was actually pretty amazed at how large it was. Now, it isn't big, just bigger than I had imagined.
I pray Landon's legs heal, and that his ears stay well.

Holy Cow, Shelley! Like you don't have anything else going on this week, right?!? I hope poor Landon's legs get better soon. I love the dirty pictures, though I don't think it is just a boy thing. Our girl loves the dirt as well! :)
Oh my goodness. Bless his heart! And bless your heart too!
Wow . . . those ants really went to town on him. Poor little guy . . . anyway, that was a fun post! Looking forward to seeing you guys at Homecoming.
