Friday night I went to the movies and saw Imagine That with Eddie Murphy. It was pretty good. We had several (two different groups) of kids from about 4-9 years old who were so incredibly rude during the entire movie (well once the one group came in 30 minutes late and the whole family had a conversation, in full volume about where to sit for, no kidding 5 minutes). At one point I actually got very frustrated and turned around (they were sitting right behind me) and in a full volume voice asked them to be quite and to stop being so rude. The parents who were sitting behind the kids gave me this dirty look, like I shouldn't be talking to their kids. These kids just need a lesson in Respect (come to my school - we'll teach 'em)!! It was so bad during the whole movie, on one occasion someone got up and went and got the manager. They were quiet when he walked in and as soon as he left they were at it again. The other group of kids, three little girls, came in and out of the theater about 10 times running and laughing and changing seats about 20 times. But I did enjoy the movie and tried not to let it ruin my evening. It was frustrating, but I got past it in the end.
Saturday morning is taken care of with Breakfast, Stretch class, Weights, and about 45 minutes on the treadmill. I get all that done, plus a shower, between breakfast and lunch. It's the afternoons that can be a bear! Mid-day Saturday was pretty boring. I came back to my apartment and picked up a little bit and made some phone calls. My place wasn't messy, I just straightened things up, put in a load of laundry, and organized some papers. After dinner a few of us had made plans to drive into Raleigh and watch the fireworks at the state fair grounds. We had a good time. The fireworks were OK, but the the company was fantastic. We got home around 11:00 that night and hit the sack!
Sunday morning is much like Saturday morning as far as gym time goes. After breakfast I walk the Duke Trail and then do some weights followed by a Water Fitness class. After lunch three of us went and got pedicures again. Wearing sneakers everyday has really messed up my cute nails! Again, Sunday afternoon was a bit slow, but after dinner a few of us kicked it up a notch. We decided to go to the gym and play some ping-pong. They only had two paddles, so the guys played that and Erica and I played "volleyball" with the exercise balls! Hilarius!! Since we kept hitting the roof of the gym we decided to take our show on the road and we headed outside, despite the rain, and played on the volleyball court. There were four of us to start. Erica and Andy vs. ME while Sheryl took pictures!!! I was running all over the place; but so excited that I could! I convinced Sheryl to put the camera down and come join me. After about 30 minutes a group of "freshman" came through on their initial tour. They had just joined Structure House that evening at dinner. We invited them to join us in our game. A few of then agreed and we had a great time. I got put on the DL about 5 minutes after the group game really started going, with a busted blood vessel on my middle finger. I was required to quit and put ice on it in 10-minute intervals. I received a phone call shortly after that and headed back to my apartment to chat with Lauri. About an hour later I joined a few of the participants for some chatty conversations. We laughed so hard for about 3 hours! I really enjoyed myself.
Looking forward to my last week here. I'm ready to come home, but in the same breath, I'm scared to go home and do it on my own. I know there will be some major changes in my life when I return to the "real world" but I'm ready to make these changes and better my life, and the life of my family. Lots of changes, not just with food and exercise, but a whole life-style change focusing on what is important to me and my new healthy lifestyle. And what's best for my family.
So here's to a week of getting prepared to leave. I have some extra "free time" this week in my schedule, so I will see what comes of that. I never had a chance to get my good camera out and take pictures around campus, so I hope to do that some this week. The rain came in this weekend so it might be a bit more difficult. I am planning on taking my nice camera to the Duke Trail one morning this week with a friend who has a car so I can take my time and get some nice shots.
Not many pictures this time, just one we took at the fireworks with a friend's iPhone.
