The first day of First Grade. (Every time I say that it makes me think of the Veggie Tales song 'Billy Joe Mcguffery' from the 'Jonah' movie...anyone else?)
Landon is off to a new school this year! I have decided to stay home with Reagan, so I'm not working at Fisher (and Purefoy) this year. It has been a strange few weeks with all my friends off to work and me not being with them. It's hard to express how I feel, because I'm not real sure. I have really enjoyed being home this week, Landon's first week of school, and have felt very productive. I hear the stories from the battle field and I sort of miss it, but then....I don't. I love my 'new job'. I miss my friends. But I am really looking forward to this new adventure and the things it means to my family.
Here is Landon's mandatory pose on the front porch.
Here is last year's photo! What a difference a year makes... wow!!!!
Oh, and there is a rhyme and reason to the signs....it's a project that is 6 years in the making! Kindergarten was Red, First Grade is Orange, Next year it will be Yellow....and when he's 11 years old, I'll have a rainbow of pictures!! I was going to put them all on the manila paper, but when I printed the sign this year (at about 11:00 the night before) I couldn't find any! So from now on they will be on coordinating construction paper!Without the sign... his preference!!
This is his teacher, Ms. Bryant.
It is so strange to send him to school and not know one thing about his teacher. I had it all mapped out at Fisher...but we will trust that he is taken care of. Everything I've heard about Ms. Bryant has been positive. Hoping he is challenged and esteemed this year.
Landon was very excited that the one other first grader he knew at Boals was in his class. Landon and Griffin went to school together at the Frisco ISD Child Development Center during preschool. Griffin is a great kid and comes from a great family! I couldn't be more happy myself. Hoping that they become friends...he lives just a few doors down. Landon could use the buddy!! And a good one at that!! You'll also notice that this is the only GENUINE smile I got all morning!!!
Sitting at his desk...the final picture before I walk out of the school building. I'll admit I choked up a tiny bit walking down the hall, but I didn't cry.
I'm looking forward to what this year brings for Landon. I'm really hoping he can make some friends who live near by; someone he can play with. He's such an old soul, I love the goo!!
